I’m not actually sure if ‘German’ is the correct name for this artist. But naming issues aside, if you’re a fan of domestic style discipline with an emphasis on medical punishments, such as enemas, then his work is well worth checking out.

“German” is a descriptor, not the name of the illustrator. There’s a series of wonderful images by this artist from (supposedly) the 1930s. You can find more on the story (involving a collection held by the artist’s therapist) if you search a little. It is thought that the artist was suppressed by the German government during the fascist era (or perhaps by themself). Some have speculated that the style is similar to Gert Gagelmann, a German propaganda artist of the era, but that is unverified. These works are also sometimes attributed to Julie Delcourt, based on a couple of pencil sketches that are signed. But others (including myself) believe that the Delcourt drawings were “after” the original paintings (perhaps tracings) as they do not have the finesse and line quality of the final pieces. That said, googling Julie Delcourt will find you many examples of this series of beautiful paintings. They are awesome!
