Kind of ironic that after my last post entitled ‘Stupidity in the UK – now slightly reduced‘, the country just voted to leave the EU. I’ll avoid going into the politics, and try not to alienate 50% of my UK readers, but I can’t say I’m a fan of that result. My opinion doesn’t really count for much however, as I’ve been away too long to have been able to vote.
I’ll mark the moment with a quintessentially British femdom scene. This is an older man dressed as a public schoolboy, enjoying the English Vice, being administered by the strict English mistress Domina Liza for the English Mansion site. Feel free to imagine him as David Cameron or Boris Johnson (depending on which side you were) if it’ll help you deal with the result.
In Scotland (if Readers will forgive the technicalities) the people in every electoral district voted Remain, with a large overall majority.
Today, Nicola Sturgeon the First Minister of Scotland has begun the process to call for a second Independence Referendum, which she will very likely win.
So: take a final look at the United Kingdom. It will not be there for too long.
Yes, absolutely. That very issue actually prompted a follow-up post by me. Although at this point it’s such a big mess it’s hard to tell what will happen. Some crazy negotiations and politics ahead I think!

Had Domina Liza been allowed to exert a bit more influence prior to the vote, the result would no doubt have been different. Strong women make a difference.
Diane
Strong women definitely make a different – although I’ve no idea which way Domina Liza would lean on the issue. I’d hate to presume to guess her opinion 🙂

I’m English and I voted to remain. Totally shocked and saddened at the idiocy, not to mention bigotry, but please remember that 48% of us wanted to remain in the EU. Jemima
That 52/48 split was pretty much the worst possible option I think. Obviously I’d prefer a majority to remain. But at least if it was 70/30 in favor of leaving then the mandate would have been crystal clear. Alternatively a 50.1/49.9 split could have been grounds for a repeat. Instead its a clear enough result to be unarguably a majority, yet an enormous minority that doesn’t agree.

Alienate away, I’d say. I did try with a pro-remain blog post, but oddly, Contemplating the Divine doesn’t seem to have as much political influence as I’d hoped.
Possibly that’s because I spend a lot of time telling my readers they’re worthless male scum. But this – this – is why votes for males is such a bad idea. http://theslot.jezebel.com/man-who-voted-for-brexit-is-a-bit-shocked-his-vote-coun-1782553004
The stupidity hurts – and not in a good way.
Don’t undersell your political influence – maybe it would have been a 54/46 victory without your post?
From a personal perspective, I failed to persuade even one of my parents to vote the right way, so I can’t even influence my nearest and dearest family members.

Exellent comment on the Brexit referendum:

That was a fascinating article. Thanks for the link. I think they captured a significant factor in the vote.
They really should never have held the referendum at all. And if they had to do it, structuring it in a way to allow the unhappiness and fear to be registered without backing the country and the government into a corner would have been much smarter. Instead they turned a protest vote into a crisis.

This is also worth reading.
