It’s not often that researching an image for a post takes me to a high culture site, but this would be that rare exception. The culture in question would be this article in the Paris Review, the original source would be this book and the image in question would be the one below.
I’ve no idea if the book is any good, but I did enjoy the article it was featured in. And I definitely enjoyed the image. Heaven is being topped by a half naked librarian wearing glasses and falling out of her lingerie while I’m hanging onto a good book we can read together afterwards.
That is an awesome image; what would make it *funny* too would be if he had his thumb wedged into the book to save his place. (I’m actually one of those annoying people who never needs a bookmark; I can pick up any book and find where I left off in ten seconds or less, but I know a lot of people who really work at not losing their place.)
Ha! That would have made it perfect.
I’m the same with finding my place. I actually find bookmarks annoying because they’ll be in some random place, and I’ll spend longer looking at their location and being confused than I would if I simply flipped through to find my place. I always throw them away now when I get gifted one with a book.
