Scamtastic

One additional thought on the rise of AI text and image generators like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion: They’re going to be amazing tools for scammers.

There’s already a lot of fake domme’s floating around online. Mostly trying to catfish subs for money. They’re typically fairly easy to spot as they steal photographs (detectable via an image search) and run fast unsubtle shakedowns. That might change as better versions of these AI tools become freely available.

The image tools will allow them to easily generate unique content in specific settings. The text generators can handle DMs, emails and social media posts. With voice/face morphing the scammers could even take calls online. It’ll be possible to create fake personas that can interact fairly independently with their targets. With the right training they could even target particular kinks and fetishes. Will we need a ‘Pick every square that contains a naked submissive’ test for online dommes?

I’m a strong believer that anyone can be scammed if you can find the right script. Check out this fascinating article on the industrialization of internet scams if you doubt the kind of effort some people put into this stuff. It’s scary to imagine what’ll happen once these tools get into their hands.

  1. Scams in the F/m space have evolved long past the ham-fisted attempts we used to see years ago.

Stolen pictures and ‘send me money for slave registration/lawyer contract/training toys/etc’ still happens, but most are just smarter than that now. Their scripts have gone from immediate sexy-kink chat to caring-interested real-life chat (i.e. less ‘make his dick hard so he doesn’t think’ and more ‘romance scam’).

You are so right though: There are going to be AI bots that automate the entire scamming process from beginning to end, and any kind of verification will be impossible.

There’s an argument for ‘well, maybe the entire online-only relationship model that’s so common now will just fail off the back of this, and that’s a GOOD thing for individuals, for society, and etc’.

Alternatively, maybe people will lean into it: ‘I know it’s not real, but I’m smart enough not to hand over any money, and in the meantime I’m getting a bunch of emotional goodness and sexy-times and that makes me happy, soooo…’.

That link though :(. I knew there were groups of organised scammers with sophisticated and co-ordinated methods: I did NOT know anything about the trafficking in that article. Horrible :(.

    1. It’s funny but I don’t think I’ve ever been targeted by a femdom scammer. I see a bunch of people posting their interactions on twitter with them, but they never seem to head in my direction. Possibly I’m not active enough on social media, which is where I assume most of them hang out.

I can definitely see an angle where it opens up the market for sexual content creation. Potentially a lot of horny dudes making explicit AI content for a lot of horny other dudes. That might be bad for current content creators, but not automatically a bad thing overall. However, feels like there’ll be a lot of bad stuff at the edges of it.

Your comment about the effect it might have on entirely online-only relationships is interesting. Really hard to predict how it might play out, but I’m not optimistic. I don’t think our brains are designed for a fully connected AI world ðŸ™

Oh – and thanks for the link share on twitter. Appreciate that!

      Take care,
