Apparently there’s a new videogame due out called ‘Enter the dominatrix‘. That’s a really stupid title, but that’s pretty much par for the course when it comes to videogames. In a similar vein, I can’t get too annoyed at the use of a dominatrix as the main villain. Yes, it’s lazy and cliched, but so are most videogames. Given the stereotypical view of a dominatrix – an attractive woman in fetish gear who enjoys hurting people – I’m surprised more games haven’t featured them.
The thing that’s even more annoying than the title and the cliched villain is the plot and accompanying press release…
In order to thwart her nefarious schemes and escape to the real world, the Saints will have to counter her army of gimps and sex-workers…
Sex-workers? Really? I’m supposed to fight off hordes of strippers, escorts, cam girls and sensual touch masseuse? The evil minions in this game are people who offer sexy fun times in return for money? Those are not the kind of people I want to virtually gun down. I get that Nazis, demons and aliens have been over-worked as protagonists at this point, but swapping them out for sex-workers is pretty fucked up.
As a further demonstration of the idiocy of the game developers, they couldn’t even put together a super sexy dominatrix to battle. If you’re going to play to a cliche, at least really go for it with a smoking hot domme, and not someone with a stupid cloak and a penis helmet. There are hundreds of better virtual dommes floating around on the web. Take the one below for example, created by Andrew Hickinbottom. It’s excessively exaggerated, and the ring on the collar is a classic fetish faux paus for a domme, but she still looks a way more interesting character than what the Volition team were paid to come up with.
I don’t like being prescriptive about kink.
But I’ve come to the conclusion that one has to make a distinction between genuine submissiveness that comes from the heart and is accompanied by love and respect, and the faux submission that is simply a wanker’s dream about letting HER have YOUR way.
No wonder dominant women are frequently seen despairing.
I don’t disagree, but I have some sympathy for the wankers (as well as a lot of sympathy for dominant women). Mainstream culture is so fucked up (and alternative culture as well to some extent), that it’s easy to get the wrong message. I think the only thing that stopped me being a faux submissive wanker in my youth was shyness, not any great character strength on my part. I learnt as I got older, and thank God I did, but I look back at my younger self and despair. This site in many ways is written as a letter to the younger stupider me.

This video game looks awful! And her outfit is hideous! Didn’t these video-game developers do any research at all? She looks sort of like the evil queen from the Sleeping Beauty cartoon, only the evil queen was much more beautiful.
I always was attracted to the evil Disney Queens. I think if they’d modeled her closely on those it would have worked a lot better. In fact model her on a Disney princess and then make her evil – that would have been brilliant. I love a story where the sweet gentle heroine turns out to be a vicious sadist. Instead she’s got this hideous outfit and zero attractiveness. When you pick a domme as the main character and submissive guys are turned off, then something is seriously screwed up!

All well said – however, I wouldn’t want to endure a ball busting kick from those boots and shin guards :-).
She could certainly do some damage in that respect. But given the limitless possibilities of the virtual medium, I’m very disappointed. I’m a gamer and a fan of dominant women. If they can’t appeal to me, then something is seriously messed up!
