A lot of shots featuring hoods look terrible because they’re obviously just being used to conceal the submissive’s face. I get the logic of that but it typically ruins the image for me. It’s hard to enjoy a kinky scene if one of the participants is embarrassed to be seen doing it.
This lovely image from Natalie Noir shows how a hood can be used whilst still making the shot work aesthetically and erotically. There’s a cohesive design to it that makes sense of the hood. I particularly love the little locks on the chin strap.

I also do not like pictures with hoods, for the most part. But I have never thought of it as the sub is embarrassed. I just figured they did not want their face to be seen by family or workplace in order to avoid complications and possible job loss. I am very open about my sexuality and have no embarrassments or shame whatsoever, even for what many others might call ’embarrassing kinks’. But if I were doing a photo shoot I’d have to wear a hood, or have my face clipped out, or just not agree to the photo at all, due to harm it might cause to my elderly mother or potential job loss. I don’t consider those to be shame aspects, just dealing with the reality of the puritanical country I live within. Once mother passes and I retire, I look forward to feeling completely free to be me at all times. But shame is not the root of why I would wear a hood, nor may it be for others.
Forgot to add – great site, I’ve been following for years and always enjoy dropping in and catching up. Thank you!
No problem and thanks :-). Glad you’ve enjoyed it.

I’m was using the term ’embarrassed’ in the context of feeling awkward or uncomfortable explaining, rather than related to shame. I can get embarrassed by all sorts of things, but I’m not necessarily ashamed of them.
Totally get why someone would where a hood in a scene. All the photos I’ve posted here from my sessions have my face cut off or blacked out. But if I’m watching professionally produced erotica, I don’t like the presence of the hood reminding me of reality and why someone might want to wear one. Unless of course it makes sense in the scene!
I have similar thoughts about being face out once I’m retired and parents are no longer around. Be an interesting decision point.
Thanks for stopping by to comment. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts here.

Keep in mind, there are many of us that are fans of full coverage and are total gearheads. We love the bottom to be in hoods of every imaginable manufacturer and we know exactly which hood they’re wearing. If they’re not wearing hoods and fantastic elaborate objectifying gear the Femdom photo is a disappointment.
Oh, for sure. Totally get the kink of hoods. Like I mentioned in the post before this one, I’m a fan of them theoretically. Just struggle with wearing them in reality!
I love some of the extreme hoods that feature in some scenes. Just never a fan when they’re not really adding anything to the scene other than obscured features.
