Vamp

A little old school cool for today’s post. This is Caroline Munro in a shot from the Hammer movie Dracula A.D. 1972. It was far from Hammer’s best Dracula movie, but Ms Munro made at least some parts of it worth watching.

I’m very fond of the old school horror movies that Hammer made from the late 50’s through to the early 70’s. Partly because they’re still fun to watch. Mostly because as a teenager in the pre-internet 80’s, they were often the kinkiest thing on late night tv. Attractive ladies in a low cut tops are good, but attractive ladies who can rip your throat out are better.

  1. I have a book about Hammer films, and that still/publicity photo is in it. As a teenager, I used to fantasise endlessly about being put over that knee. Come to think of it, I still do.

    1. I’m not surprised. I think if I’d had this image in a book as a teenager it would have been much browsed! Possibly falling into the category of formative experiences.

    1. Not sure UK TV ever had late roller derby or wrestling. Best bets for kink were exploitation movies or art movies! Two very different sources for a common goal 🙂

  2. Caroline Munro does a presenting spot introducing horror films on Talking Pictures TV here in the U.K.. Even in her seventies she still looks amazing. Personally I think her best film was “Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter” which was a Hammer Horror that was a bit different to the their standard fare. Also if you fancy a laugh “Starcrash” is a Star Wars rip off in which she looks fantastic as a space warrior.

    1. Captain Kronos was good. Although it must have been 30+ years since I watched it, so not sure how it stands up. She was good in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ as well. Not a big role – but memorable!
Haven’t seen Starcrash but always up for a bit of trashy sci-fi. I’ll keep an eye out. Thanks.
