It’s odd how often derelict and abandoned buildings show up in the more artistic BDSM shots. I really can’t imagine a worse place for a scene. Damp and decaying wood. Cold breezes. Rusty nails and broken glass. Vermin. Dangerous footing and no sturdy anchor points. It’s pretty much the definition of a bad place to get naked and tie people up. But it does look cool, which is no doubt the motivating factor.
This is my third and, for the moment, final Femdom/Femsub post. While the backdrop might be interesting but impractical, I do like the top’s outfit. It’s not exactly standard domme wear, but it is sexy and does fit the scene. This is also a nice image to spin a story around. Is she in the process of rescuing the tied up woman? Or is she about to kiss her and abandon her?
You can find out more about the image here. It was shot by Joseph W Carey. The domme is Sister Dee from Top Grl and the submissive is Luna Vary. I originally encountered it on the Beauty of Submission tumblr.
Stunning photo – Luna Vary is an extraordinary beauty! So very thankful for your post this morning – bravo!
Thanks for the comment and glad you liked the image. As you say Luna is a beauty and I think bondage here is interesting as well.

The deserted mill/factory/warehouse trope is becoming seriously overused on Tumblr. I blame the Men in Pain & related pay sites. Apparently it’s supposed to be “edgy.”
I kind of get it in the case of kink.com, since they are effectively shooting in an old warehouse/military base type space. They might as well make use of their surroundings. For everyone else I guess it’s a cheap way to get an unusual/visually interesting/edgy backdrop to the scene. I guess it also hints at a public space without some of the problems associated with a genuinely public space. This visual bit of my brain likes the contrasts, while the practical bit tends to ask ‘How would this work? Why are they there?’
And yes, it has definitely been a well used idea recently.

I have a theory about the decrepit surroundings within many FemDom BDSM photos: it’s really a projection of a male rape fantasy, in that part of what rape is about is making the victim revolted and terrified, thus granting more power to the aggressor whom is presumably less so or not at all. It’s as silly as a fish on a bicycle within the FemDom BDSM milieu, because I doubt any female top dreams of this dynamic as sexy either way around.
To sum: as is most often the case in pornography, the decrepitude is most probably not what a woman would actually want for the scenario, but what a man (namely the photographer or producer of the photoshoot) mistakenly surmises is the case.
This is because – as several femdom authors have point out – most femdom porn is aimed at *men*, not at women.
That’s an interesting point of view. I’ll need to ponder on that a while.
I suspect there’s certainly some truth in what you say. The setting is a translation of what the photographer thinks works for him in an entirely different fantasy context. But I also think that there’s an element of ‘What would make an interesting backdrop rather than the usual studio/dungeon setting’. Creating clashing imagery leads to a more visually interesting scene, which if you spend your life shooting naked bodies might count for something.
