It has been a Star Wars heavy weekend for me. I finally got around to watching the Force Awakens on Friday and on Sunday caught Rogue One. I enjoyed them both, but what really grabbed my attention was the strong female lead characters. Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) and Jyn (played by Felicity Jones) are both stand out performances. The Rebel and Empire forces are still sadly about 90% men, but for me it’s the female characters who are memorable.
The feisty and acid tongued Leia was a key part of the original trilogy. Star Wars nerds tend to salivate over her metal bikini scene, and I’ve never really understood that. You’ve got this kick-ass princess who can banter and shoot with the best of them, and you like the bit where she’s chained up to a giant slug? Anyway, after the disaster of the prequels, it seems they’ve got the franchise back on track. I can only hope there’s a lot more heroic ass kicking and a total absence of slave girl outfits in Rey’s future.

It appears this young lady has fallen and she can’t get up. Has she fainted? Lost all motor function? Possibly anesthetized? Either way, it looks like a medical emergency. Overwatch is a big thing in gaming these days. It’s not really my big thing, as I’m not into shooters, but a recent Christmas promotion event did catch my eye thanks to one of the characters unconventional approach to kissing under the mistletoe. I’m not going to burn all my bandwidth hosting the the associated animated gif, but you can check it out in this article. Less kissing, more punching and sneering.
What I found particularly amusing was all the responses the article listed after the gif. A lot of fans (both men and women) seemed very happy about the idea of being beaten up by Widowmaker underneath the mistletoe. I already knew Overwatch had kinky players (see this previous post), but apparently there’s a lot more out there than I thought. Even if they don’t always seem to know it themselves.

We’re heading into gift giving season, at least in some parts of the world. It therefore seems an appropriate time to update my BDSM equipment page. I don’t personally buy a lot of BDSM equipment, as most of the people I’m playing with have access to full equipped dungeons. A final post on the cat theme – this time focusing on the claws. I’m surprised how rarely artificial claws pop-up in either erotica or play. In my years of play, I’ve maybe had one occasion where a domme pulled a pair of claws out. They’re also equally rare in femdom porn scenes. Which is odd, given they’re easy to use, visually striking and offer opportunities for a wide range of play. They’re not as dramatic as cracking a whip or swishing a cane, but CBT or impact play combined with big claws will certainly grab anyone’s attention. After featuring cats in yesterday’s post, it would be entirely out of character if I didn’t use that as an excuse to follow it up with a Catwoman themed post. In this case the great Julie Newmar.
There have been a number of interpretations of the character in movies over the years, and they’ve all had a number of things in common. They’ve featured talented actresses, in slinky constumes and who were all cursed with terrible scripts. The early shows and movies with Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether were fun but campy nonsense. Michelle Pfeiffer looked great in Batman Returns, but the movie itself was a big letdown after the first Tim Burton Batman. Similarly, Anne Hathaway was great in the role, but stuck in the terrible Dark Knight Rises. And the least said about the Halle Berry Catwoman film the better. It’s really amazing how Hollywood can squander so much talent and money, and yet still not give us a good Catwoman movie. Let’s hope I’m not writing a similar thing about Wonder Woman in 12 months time.
