The million eyes of Sumuru

Based on its imdb page, the million eyes of Sumuru was a pretty terrible movie. Despite that, I have a soft spot for these kind of cheesy 60’s exploitation flicks. They’re impossible to defend on an artistic, cultural or political level, yet hard for me to resist when I stumble across them late at night with a drink in my hand. I love the over-the-top poster below, and I’m guessing that a lot of my readers might enjoy this clip from the movie.

SumuruYou can see the trailer for the movie here. In typically culturally sensitive fashion, the ‘asian’ Sumuru was played by the wonderful but very non-asian Shirley Eaton (famous for her role in Goldfinger)

More chains, leashes and countryside

I’m back in Seattle after my adventures to the North. Hopefully at some point soon I’ll have time to create some more thoughtful and weighty posts. In the meantime, here’s another image continuing yesterday’s theme of chains and leashes in the great outdoors. Unfortunately, also like yesterday’s post, I don’t have an original attribution for it.

Leashed In FieldI found this on the Design Domme tumblr.

Still Alive

I think this must be the longest I’ve ever gone without a post in 3+ years. No major problem I’m happy to report. Just stuck in the wilds of British Columbia for the weekend without an internet connection. And when I say the wilds, I mean a house on a beach with a hot tub, grill and well stocked fridge. For me any accommodation without high speed internet and room service is akin to 19th century arctic exploration.  Fortunately I wasn’t compelled to eat any traveling companions, although several bottles of red wine were sacrificed.

I’m afraid I’ve no kinky fun to report. It would have been the perfect place for this kind of outside leash play. There were plenty of chains around, I just lacked a lady to hold the end of it.

Unconventionally hot

Still very busy, so here’s another sexy image to be going along with. It’s not exactly a conventional hot image. Everyone is fully dressed. There’s no sweaty body parts pushing against each other. The setting is clearly posed and artificial. Yet I still find it very sexy. It’s simultaneously formal yet also relaxed, with a nice sense of low key energy to it.

PoseIt looks like something from the portfolio of an independent photographer, but I’ve failed to turn up a source. I found it on the Geek Domme tumblr.

We apologize for the interruption

Sorry about the lack of posts recently. I’ve got a bunch of stuff going on that’s dominating my time right now. In fact, I’m so busy, I don’t even have time to write a proper post explaining exactly why I’m so busy. So in the meantime you’re stuck with this: We apologize for the interruption and hope that normal service will be resumed shortly. Let me at least leave you with a sexy picture to make amends.

Sexy Femdom PictureThis looks like something from the Kink.com family, but I don’t have an exact attribution. I found it on Veronica’s View tumblr.

Dirty talk

While I’m on the subject of watersports (see last post), let me take the opportunity to talk about the comedian Jim Norton. This less than obvious segue will become clear if you take a look at this video of him being interviewed by Amy Schumer. As far as comedians go, she’s not afraid to work a little blue, but even she seems nonplussed by Jim’s version of dirty talk.

Jim made headlines recently when he wrote about his personal experiences as a sex worker client and defended the idea of sex work. The usual crowd provided their standard knee jerk response to this, which automatically equates any kind of sex+money with trafficking and abuse, while simultaneously denigrating the people who do choose to work this way. Fortunately, scattered amongst the idiotic and ill conceived articles, there was some better ones that tackled the issue with some thought.

Given his comments in Amy’s interview, this seems a very appropriate image to feature. It’s by the always brilliant Sardax and was a commission for the lovely Mistress Darcy. She’s a New York and London based domme, and is someone I’d love to play with should our paths every intersect.

Unhappy BDSM

I’ve referenced the Happy BDSM tumbr fairly often in the past. It’s not femdom specific, but it’s still one of my favorite tumblrs. If anyone ever fancied switching it around and doing an Unhappy BDSM tumblr, then I think this image would be a great one to start with.

Personally I think watersports can be incredibly hot, but these two seem less than enamored of it. She looks like she can’t quite believe what’s happening, and he looks like someone who just discovered his play partner had asparagus for lunch.

Unhappy Watersports

This is obviously from the Japanese Rose Lip site. I found it on the Felm Cyber tumblr.

Double standards

I cast a pretty wide net when it comes to articles I feature here. I’m not averse to featuring something that’s interesting but with only a loose connection to femdom. This one, entitled ‘The insane double standard for women working in tech‘ is a good case in point.

It highlights a study that found that in performance reviews men get assessed on their actions, where women get assessed on their personality. In 83 reviews of men, just 2 highlighted personality issues, where out of 94 for women, an amazing 71 did. As you might expect, the personality issues highlighted for women were all the usual ones about tone: You’re too pushy, too aggressive, too abrasive. The kind of characteristics that countless men in the workplace display every day of their lives without issue.

I’m not going to try and equate being an effective and forceful worker with dominance. That would be foolish. Sexual preferences are very different to work attitudes, and the goal here is equality of treatment, not the right D/s label. But I think it’s an interesting example of the broader cultural perceptions at work. Society is comfortable with the classic dominatrix trope, as it’s typically perceived as a sexual roleplay targeted for the benefit of men. Yet put a forceful opinionated women in a software company, along with a 100 forceful opinionated guys, and then suddenly people have a problem.

WorkplaceI realize with this image I’m not really helping and I’m continuing to play into the dominatrix trope. Unfortunately, on the tumblrs I frequent, it’s tricky to find a shot of a sensibly dressed female software developer making a solid argument for the design of her database schema. So sexy dominatrix boss it has to be.
