Reading an expression

Of all the many erotic elements found in bdsm and femdom pornography, the one I find consistently most interesting and compelling is the expression on people’s faces. Forget fetish materials, intricate bondage, taut naked bodies and exciting instruments of torture. An interesting expression, or the lack of it, can make or break a picture.

Take for example the image below. She has nice legs, but it’s fairly standard as far as femdom foot fetish porn goes (not a phrase you find yourself writing everyday). But I do like her expression. It seems to be a blend of amusement, patience and just a touch of condescension. I recently added the ‘Sadist Next Door’ to my blog roll. It’s written by Mistress Crimson, a professional dominatrix from Chicago. She has a number of interesting posts, but one that really caught my eye was about food. She quotes Anthony Bourdain on eating as an act of submission.

As both a huge food fan and a submissive I can completely relate to this. Some of the best meals of my life have been when I’ve simply entrusted myself to the chef and let him completely direct the flow of the meal. On the flip side, I also get very frustrated when I’m eating with people who keep trying to grab control from the chef and mess around with elements of the meal. I guess that’s the dining equivalent of topping from the bottom.

I think this is a great drawing, although I’ve no real idea what the artist was originally trying to convey. The rod and apple have fairly obvious symbology, but the collared chrome pig and the initialed dog dish are a little more puzzling. At first I thought it was a fetishized femdom version of a political cartoon. It feels like there should be a caption about decadent fat bankers in thrall to cruel Mistress Capitalism. But as far as I can tell from the artist’s comments, it’s just a drawing of and for a friend, in a style inspired by the famous Hajime Sorayama.

Inverted Whipping

I’ve done suspension scenes before, but never an inverted one. I can’t image how intense it must be to be upside down, hooded, bound and whipped. Wonderfully terrible I suspect.

This image is originally from brutal-facesitting. I found it on the un-des-sens tumblr site. It’s a interesting tumblr site, as it has a lot of artist black and white photographs, rather than the usual grab bag of random reblogged tumblr porn. However, a fair number of the images seem to have started life as conventional porn, and then been manipulated to create slightly more interesting and distinctive pictures. Or manipulated to create artificially pretentious arty images, if you’re feeling cynical. Personally, I liked it a lot.

This is an evil glance over the shoulder. It makes me think of fairy tales, wicked witches and evil curses. It’s the look from the last frame of the horror movie, when you realize the hero hasn’t escaped at all. Or the plot twist moment where the attractive damsel in distress starts devouring her rescuers souls.

I think my reaction to needle play was one of the biggest surprises I had (out of many) when first getting involved in BDSM.
