What are you?

The terminology in BDSM is always a source of confusion for me, and in particular the labels people attach to themselves and each other. I remember joining fetlife and being stumped by the mutually exclusive set of options they provided. I think my choices included submissive, bottom, masochist, slave, fetishist and kinkster. I kind of get masochist and fetishist. But what’s the difference between submissive and bottom? Or submissive and slave? Where does kinkster fit in? And why are these mutually exclusive decisions? Can I not have an ‘All of the above’ option?

I was therefore happy to stumble on this post by the very knowledgeable Irene Boss which gives her thoughts on the definitions of these terms. From a personal perspective I also particularly enjoyed the following comment in the article.

It is not uncommon for me to bond (and become friends) with a submissive masochist who also digs bondage, which is the rarest and most enjoyable breed of client for me.

I think that combo of labels captures my particular predilections fairly well. So while I’m guessing it’s unlikely I’ll ever be friends with Irene Boss, it’s nice to know I might make an enjoyable client! Although I am a little surprised by the rarity, as she observes it, of that specific kinky wiring.

When it comes to the D side of the equation, there are an equally mixed set of labels: Dominant, Mistress (or Master), Top and Sadist. But it seems people feel a lot more relaxed about using these interchangeable, or at least that’s my impression. Sadist has a very clear and distinct definition, but the other three get used and swapped fairly freely. I wonder if that’s down to the existence of professional dominants, who are happy to blur their personal boundaries in order to work with a wide variety of clients. Or if it’s a natural outcome that flows from the attitude of a typical dominant personality. i.e. Less obsession with labels and less need to carefully categorize their preferences.

Of course none of this even touches on the idea of a switch, which adds a whole new dimension to the matrix!

Classroom Spanking

In one sense this a very old school (pardon the pun) spanking image. There’s a classroom setting, a strict teacher and a strap being deployed at speed. However, the spankee doesn’t look like your average school girl. And her skin tight dress is certainly not the type of thing employed as a school uniform (sadly). Perhaps this is the headmistress disciplining one of the teachers for getting a little too familiar with her pupils?

Bishop

Robert Bishop was one of the great BDSM illustrators. Through the 70’s and 80’s he produced a large number of pen and ink drawings, for both books and magazines, depicting all sorts of intricate and detailed bondage. The majority of his work depicts either lone female submissives or male dominants with female submissives, and hence I haven’t added him to my femdom artist page. His work never gives me the impression of a man who was really committed to the femdom dynamic. However, despite this, he did create a number of images with female dominants and I’ve picked what I think is a particularly good example for this post.

This image was taken from the collection of Bishop images I downloaded from usenet many years ago. The dark half

The shy demure girl who’s secretly a kinky sex freak is admittedly a little bit of a cliche. But I do like this particularly twist on it. And I make no excuses for my love of nerdy girls in glasses. Particularly those who also may happen to be kinky sex freaks.

Can you milk a pony?

I guess according to this, the answer is yes. There are certainly a lot of fetishes crammed into this image, even on top of the milking aspect. There’s the cute girl, who obviously at some point in the past was clearly a boy. There’s the pony outfit with the sexy bit gag. There’s the anal plug. And of course there’s the efficient and vaguely nurse-like figure doing the milking itself.

Unfortunately there’s no signature on the image, but it looks very much like a Dmitrys work to me.

It’s hard to tell from this picture if she’s using the sound to try and prevent the semen coming out, or just vigorously fucking him with it. Either way, judging by her expression, she’s having a lot of fun. She makes me think of a young girl trying to stuff a bendy straw though a lid and into the top of a milkshake.
