I’m continuing the F/f theme from yesterday’s post. However, while I called yesterday’s image ‘sweet’, I’m not sure many people would apply the same description here. It’s more a case of turning her into the comfy chair, rather than putting her in it.

For most people I expect it’s the severity of the bondage that stands out, but for me it’s the expressions. One is icy calm, unflustered. The other is emotional and flushed, even a little tearful. That contrast really makes the image work for me.

The artist goes under the handle of papermania. I’ve seen his work floating around in a lot of different places but I’ve never managed to track down any biographical details or a homepage. An attractive Asian mistress standing over a wax splattered slave isn’t a particularly unusual femdom shot. Having the slave bound with heavy ropes to a couple of ornate side tables is a little rarer. Sticking what looks like a lit firework in a delicate part of the slaves anatomy is pretty much unique in my extensive porn surfing experience. Despite the post title I think it might actually be stuck in his urethra, although it’s kind of hard to see. I’m also a little puzzled what she’s doing with the string she’s holding. Is that a ‘pull in case of emergency’ cord? Or is she simply using it to steer the spray of fire?

I’ve never experienced anything quite as dramatic as this, although I did enjoy sparklers in the cell popping session I did last year. In that case Lady Lydia passed them over my torso from an inch or two away. They were very pretty and gave a nice prickling pain effect as the sparks splashed against the skin.

Candles and corset

This pair of performers have featured in a past post on this blog. Last time they were demonstrating a serious side along with a fun side, and these two images follow a similar pattern.

The first image is just beautiful. That’s a fabulous corset, and it matches up very well with her intricate tattoos. He’s been bound in an interesting way, almost as if in prayer. I’m also a fan of those candles. They look very theatrical and fierce. They seem to be quite common in Japanese BDSM, but I rarely see them used elsewhere.

When it comes to the second image, I have no idea what’s going on. Is she about to roll it over him? Or pull him up over it? Regardless of the plan of action, it comes as a very fun playful shot. She’s flying, with a big smile on her face. I always enjoy watching or playing with a happy sadist.

Flying high

Here’s an unusual suspension shot. Often rope work like this is all about restraining and exposing the submissive. This looks a lot more fun and lighthearted. He almost looks like he’s flying, Superman style. From his rather tumescent silhouette he’s certainly enjoying the experience, and from her happy expression it looks like his mistress feels the same way.

I found this on the Treats for the Strange blog. It hosts a wide variety of interesting images. I particularly liked this one, which almost made me run my finger down my screen to feel the rope.

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

In my recent post entitled Discovery Femdom one of the commentors mentioned that he found narcissistic dommes to be very sexy (this comment by honestpower). That’s not one of my personal kinks, but I do kind of get it on an intellectual level. A lot of D/s service type activity focuses on putting the dominant on a pedestal and trying to make their life run as smoothly and as happily as possible. A narcissistic domme is just a continuation of that, where she puts herself at the center of her own attention. I suspect there are also elements of objectification and humiliation woven into the idea, with the domme putting herself forward as the only person worthy of any kind of attention.

Personally I tend to find narcissists annoying, but I couldn’t help thinking of that particular comment when I stumbled across these two images. I like the simplicity of the scene. There’s no fancy fetish gear or elaborate setting. Just some towels, a little bit of tubing and a woman getting ready in a bathroom. Despite the simplicity, they come across as excitingly severe. I particularly like her foot resting on his towel draped head in the first shot. I get the impression she dried herself with the towel and then simply drop it onto him.

I found these on the Perony bog. Unfortunately it seems to have been a blog that burst into life at the start of 2010 and then died before the end of that year.

Dirty dirty boy

Here’s a little artwork I came across on my random ramblings through Japanese BDSM blogs. I believe the artist is Haru Kano and he has a blog featuring his femdom and fetish artwork. There’s also a thread containing more of his work available at this image board. His style is quite distinctive and in some cases reminds me a little of Namio Harukawa. For example, this face sitting shot definitely puts me in mind of some of Namio’s work.

The image below of a slave getting a good wash and scrub down isn’t something that would normally appeal to me. I’m typically not a fan of humiliation type play. However, I do like his bound kneeling posture, and it’s very hard to not be taken with a trio of attractive aggressive Japanese nurses.

I have no idea what femdom image is suitable for a celebration of the changing of calendar, so here’s just a fun one that was lurking on my hard drive. Hopefully everyone will have as good a time as it looks like these two are.

Relaxing together on the couch

I love the bondage arrangement they’ve set up here. On an aesthetic level there’s a great symmetry to it, with her dark clad frame resting comfortably in the center, his pale naked body spread before her and then the heavy horizontal white bar of the couch. It also works on a very practical level. She can use him simply as a foot rest, or do a little torture with her heels, or lean forward and turn it into a full blown CBT session. I like the idea that she could be watching TV or reading, and then at odd moments, when she’s a little bored, she could reach out and do something particularly vicious to him.

What to think…

The first image below is floating around on a number of femdom tumblr’s, having started life (AFAIK) on maymay’s Submissive Secrets. I can’t argue with the surface level sentiment *. The left image is far more aesthetically and erotically pleasing, and I’d definitely prefer it as a representation of femdom than the one on the right. However, contrarian that I am, I can’t help feeling the urge to dig a little below the surface and maybe quibble with some of the subtext.

In picking that particular right hand image I feel the creator ‘cheated’ somewhat. I’m sure Lady Joanne is a wonderful woman (you can see her site here) but that photograph certainly doesn’t do her any favors. That costume is a horrible cliche, her makeup extreme and the activity depicted lacks any chemistry. However, I’m sure the creators goal wasn’t simply to highlight a single bad photograph. After all, there is an endless supply of bad porn photographs of all types. The contrast being made here is something more that qualitative. The left shot very obviously lacks any traditional fetishwear or kinky props. There’s no clearly defined activity, just a sexy shot of woman pushing the man back in a forceful way. So surely you could change the right shot for a ‘better’ kink heavy photograph, without changing the basic message?

Lets say, for example, we changed the right photograph for one of those I’ve included below (click to enlarge). I picked these fairly randomly from a large collection of similar ‘men in pain‘ shots. They all show various fetish outfits, traditional BDSM props and more extreme activities. They’re certainly not my favorite femdom shots, but there’s at least a few elements in all of them I find appealing. I like the intensity, the drama and the physical manifestation of the control.

So if one of these images had been used on the right, what difference would it make? It really shouldn’t change the basic message, right? Yet somehow, I think it does. With one of these on the right I don’t think I’d care which of the images came to mind of our generic Miss X. On one hand it’s sexy fun D/s and on the other it’s intense sensation D/s. I’d definitely prefer she didn’t freak out and treat me like a weirdo, but anyone who did that probably was never going to end up on my Christmas card list anyway. I’m proud of some of the crazy stuff I’ve done. It’s not always necessary, but it is enjoyable.

All the commonly depicted BDSM accoutrements – ropes, whips, cuffs, pegs, needles, boots, corsets, buckets of soapy frogs – are just tools. Ways to mediate and amplify power exchange. They often incorrectly get put to center stage in porn. Yet this misuse doesn’t mean they’re not still useful (and fun) tools. They weren’t specially selected by a secret committee in an effort to make kinky people look silly. So lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater. I’d like people to think of femdom and think of a women taking control and having hot forceful sex exactly the way she wants it. I’d also like people to think of it and picture a woman skillfully suspending a guy with many feet of rope and then whipping him (and her) happy with a single tail.

* Although I’m not sure what is with the ‘being young sucks’ part of it. I think I was 13 or 14 years old the last time I thought that, and at that age outing myself as submissive to women was way down my list of priorities. Back then I’d have said I was a dominant Gorean rope master with an interest in furries if it would have landed me a date.

Vintage Beating

I’ve no idea when this was actually shot or what was the original publication context. I just like the semi-authentic nature of it. Clearly it’s posed for a photographer, but there’s a smack of verisimilitude that you don’t find in a lot of old shots. Or in a lot of modern shots for that matter.
