Headline Hard-ons

There have been a lot of dicks in the news recently. And no, that’s not a set-up for a Donald Trump joke.

Firstly, there was the story with the headline grabbing title – ‘Is your penis really shrinking?‘ Apparently falsely believing your penis to be shrinking is a defined medical phenomena known as Koro. I know men think all sorts of strange things about their dicks on a daily basis, but panicking that it’ll vanish back into the body is a new one on me.

Then there was the story about a penis transplant. A lot of headlines billed it as the ‘first’, where in fact it was only the first in the US and the third in the world. A penis transplant sounds like a set-up for a great porn movie or a terrible horror movie, but in fact it’s a fascinating medical and human interest story. The recipient seems like an interesting guys who has tackled the issue in a very open and honest way.

Finally, in slightly different medical news, there was the English surgeon who wore a chastity device while performing operations. The story is full of lurid details of a penis torture device, but from the description it just sounds like a regular plastic CB device or something similar. He wasn’t discovered because of the bulge in his scrubs, but because he snapped photos in a hospital locker room and emailed them to a ‘professional’ (note quotes) dominatrix. She then turned him into the hospital authorities who suspended him.

I’m in two minds about that last story. On one hand he doesn’t seem to have exhibited great judgement, which isn’t a good sign for a surgeon. On the other hand, I’m really not sure what the big deal is about doing your job in a chastity device. The article talks about hygiene issues, but unless he was doing surgery sans pants, I can’t imagine that would be a problem. If it was a vibrating butt plug or nipple clamps then I’d understand the concern, but some people wear chastity devices 24×7. I’d be more concerned with his bad judgement in snapping photographs and picking a horrible domme than the device itself.

A Genoux Esclave

A final post (for the moment) with a vintage femdom artwork theme. This is from a 1935 book – ‘Jim Galding. A Genoux Esclave. Les Editions du Couvre-Feu.‘ The title means ‘Kneeling Slave’, although in this particular illustration it’s more of a lying slave and a hop, skip and a jumping domme.

Four expressions

In a genre dominated by sexy bodies, fetishistic outfits and kinky activities, I find myself picking up on and blogging about facial expressions more frequently than almost anything else. Yesterday’s post was one recent instance, and today’s features another. With the internet providing an endless stream of bodies in an infinite variety of sexual configurations, I find facial expressions are the most common way I can connect with a shot. Without them the imagery becomes almost abstract.

This example from Divine Bitches is a bit porn-y, but I do like to see people having fun. Or at least 75% of the people having fun.

Elaborate arrangement

The bondage here isn’t elaborate, but the arrangement she has come up with certainly is. It looks like his head is held under the chair, and then there’s a pulley apparatus to connect her footrest to his testicles. I can’t say I’d want to give it a try myself, but I do admire the ingenuity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this exact set-up before.

This image continues the theme of heavy and elaborate bondage. Although in this case it seems possibly a little too elaborate. There’s a latex outfit, a tight hood, chains, cuffs, plastic wrap and some fairly intense CBT. All that seems like a fun time, but what’s with the stockings? Did they think it’d all be too pedestrian with throwing some cross dressing in there? I’m all for exploring and layering kinks, but how many can you really enjoy at any one time?

AVN Season (final)

There might have been little attention paid to kink and BDSM at AVN, but one of the winners does have a femdom connection. Riley Reid, who picked up the Female Performer of the Year award, has done a number of shoots for Femdom Empire. She’s one of a growing number of conventional porn stars who seem to be happy to cross over and shoot kink.

Years ago there was a fairly clear distinction between people who shot BDSM and those who shot conventional porn. That now seems to be breaking down. Partly I suspect that’s down to the growth of BDSM porn and the larger professional studios shooting it. However, I’d guess that an even larger factor might be how often regular sex (PIV, oral, anal, etc.) now gets mixed in with more hardcore bondage and pain shots. I think that mixture puts off a lot of potential BDSM performers, particularly dommes. I’ve talked to several who wouldn’t shoot for kink.com anymore because sex in a femdom scene was considered part of the shoot. Instead they decided either to not shoot or stick to their own clipstores where they had more control. This in turn opens up opportunities for regular porn stars who don’t mind mixing sex and kink. So it has been less a simple removal of barriers, and more an expansion of regular porn and retreat of BDSM specialists.

AVN Season (cont)

I’ve noted the lack of awards for kink, fetish and BDSM at AVN in the past. I think the last time, in 2013, there were only 3 vaguely relevant awards. This year, based on this list of winners, they’re now down to one. That’s the very generic ‘Best BDSM movie’. They don’t even break out separate awards for maledom and femdom. I doubt it’ll surprise anyone to learn that for the last three years that award has gone to a maledom movie.

Breaking out every kinky niche into an award would probably be unmanageable, but I’d have thought top level awards for best male/female top/bottom would at least have been considered. It is after all a very challenging job. Regular porn stars will often tell interviewers how hard it is to have sex in odd positions on unusual furniture when surrounded by a film crew. BDSM performers have to handle all that, plus whips, gags, ropes, canes, crops, chains, cattle prods, nipple clamps, needles, hoods and anal probes. Although hopefully not all at the same time. When a regular porn performer has an uncomfortable position that’s an unfortunate side-effect of getting the right shot. When a BDSM performer has an uncomfortable positions that’s often the goal of the shot.

AVN Season

The annual AVN awards were announced this weekend in Las Vegas. They style themselves as the ‘Oscars for Porn’ and, having attended them myself many years ago, I can confirm they’re as boring and repetitive as the Oscars and other similar industry award evenings tend to be.

This year they were held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas, which decided it’d be a smart move to harass and expel transgender performers. That’s based on what Lorelei Lee reported on her twitter feed. So someone could get an award on stage one minute and get kicked out of the restroom the next. That’s both incredibly stupid and not at all surprising to me. For a supposed center of hedonism and debauchery, Vegas is incredibly conservative and old fashioned.

The other big story was James Deen and what would be the fallout from the rape accusations. The AVN management didn’t get things off to a great start by cancelling a panel on consent. You’d think that this would be a great time for a conversation about consent in porn, but apparently not. As for the attendees themselves, it seemed that nobody wanted to go on record with an opinion either way. I suspect that means it’ll be business as usual in a few months.

That’s all fairly depressing, but at least mentioning Lorelei Lee does give me an excuse to feature some of her excellent work. This is her pulling a fairly dramatic expression out of David Chase in a shoot for Divine Bitches.

Hard, soft or somewhere in between

I liked Rain DeGrey’s recent post entitled – The secret of the dick. The secret in question is that dicks are not binary. It’s not true that hard equals horny and ready for action, while soft equals disinterested and ready for sleep. Dicks can be all sorts of different degrees of rigidity, and they may or may no correlate to mental state. The answer, for both men and women, is not to focus so much on the dick.

Personally when I’m playing I’ll go through all sorts of different states. Typically light sensation equals hard while more sharp overwhelming pain equals soft. But sometimes, deep in the zone, when it’s getting very intense and the domme leans in close to really hurt me – SPROING! The mind and body combination is a strange one. It’s good to try and understand oneself, but sometimes it’s better just to go with the flow and accept bodies can be unpredictable.
