Missing the fair

I have the worst timing when it comes to the Folsom Street Fair. As I wrote last year, I always seem to be in SF around it, but never on it. There’s a regular software event called Oracle World a week or two before, which pushes up hotel prices, closes roads and packs the city with the kind of people interested in computer databases. I’ve inadvertently overlapped and been annoyed by that multiple times, including this year. The kinky, fetish event full of naked people and leather gear? Not once.

Anyway, my bad planning aside, the Folsom Fair just happened again. There’s a pretty good collection of photographs from it available here. The one below caught my eye as I believe the lady in the chariot in Liliane Hunt, whose blog has been on my blogroll for several years now.

Washing day

I’m home from a very enjoyably vacation. I’m sad it’s over, but hopefully that’ll mean I’ve time for more regular posts here. While I go and unpack my case and throw a bunch of dirty clothes in the wash, I’ll leave you with someone else who has been doing their washing. This looks a bit more fun than me running my tumble dryer.

washingday The watermark here indicates the photograph is by a ‘Bobbie Lyne’, but I can’t find a suitable photographer with that name online. There are a couple of models using that name, but I’m not convinced it’s their work either. As usual, if anyone has an attribution, please let me know.

Eric Kroll

A few weeks back I featured a photograph from the erotic and fetish photographer Eric Kroll. By odd coincidence, just a short while later, I came across this ErosBlog post on a GoFundMe page for Eric. He’s trying to keep his enormous collection of material together and keep a roof over his head. I’ve a real soft spot for old school erotic/fetish photographers who worked in the pre-internet days, and I suspect a number of my readers feel the same way. If you do then maybe consider contributing to his GoFundMe. As an added bonus, any donation over $30, gets you a signed print from Eric.

Cucks

One of the weirder elements – of what has been a seriously weird year of politics – has been the rise of the term ‘cuck’ or ‘cuckservative‘. As this GQ article explains, it’s an insult used within the right to suggest someone is weak and reluctant to take a firm conservative stance. The derivation is obviously from the sexual kink of cuckolding.

Personally I don’t really care if the American right wing beats itself up, but I do find the term puzzling. The key element of cuckolding is surely the ‘cheating’ aspect and the feelings that provokes. By definition it needs at least three people, with one of them getting off on being spurned and denied. Maybe the cuckold gets off on the woman’s pleasure, or masochistically on the humiliation and rejection, but either way it’s a secret source of enjoyment. Do how does this dynamic map to the insult? If Donald Trump is the bull and Jeb Bush the cuck, who or what is the woman? How is the cheating happening? And is Jeb supposed to be getting a thrill out of it? It doesn’t really make much sense to me.

If nuts on the right want to raid the BDSM lexicon for insults, then surely ‘sissy’ would be a much better word to steal. That has no trio dynamics, and aligns more closely to the intended meaning of weak, effeminate and insufficiently red blooded. It even works in the longer form of ‘sissyservative’. That’s not to say I’d personally use or support such a term, but at least it’d make a bit much logical sense. Although in the current climate, logical sense is perhaps expecting too much.

Don’t try this in your derelict barn

A suitable image to follow-up yesterday’s post. This is another elaborate rope suspension with a high difficulty/risk factor. It looks very cool for a photograph, but I can’t imagine it being sustainable for any kind of extended play.

Normality

Anyone who thinks being kinky makes them special should probably think again. According to The Journal of Sex Research, interpreted via this article in Maxim magazine, almost 50% of adults have unconventional sexual desires. Which kind of raises the question: At what point does unconventional become conventional? If kinky people make it to 51% of the population do we have to start describing non-kinky people as the unconventional ones?

Of course sometimes sexual desires can be complicated to pigeonhole in a simple classification system. Is this scene exhibitionism, public humiliation, shoe fetishism or simple D/s? Whatever it is, I think it puts the pair of them into the ‘unconventional’ half of the population.

Pony Ride

A pony ride on a sandy beach used to be a traditional part of the British summer holiday for children. I don’t think the ponies ever looked anything like this however, The beaches probably weren’t as nice either.

If you hunt around for images of femdom and ponyboys you’ll find a lot of silly posed shots. This vintage shot is particularly bad, but representative of the type. The image below was one of the few I found that looked like she was genuinely going for a ride rather than simply posing for the camera. I also have to admire her ponies dedication. That full face hood must be incredibly hot.

I’m afraid I haven’t a reference for the creator of this image. Please leave a comment if you can help me attribute it.

Cavalry Charge

I’m really not sure what this video is about. There are attractive ladies, pony boys, fetish gear, jousting and a beach. I like it. I just don’t know why it was created. Although maybe it isn’t necessary to have a reason to exist when that kind of subject matter is involved. We should be thankful that someone felt the need to record it.

I particularly liked the fact that it wasn’t filmed on a private beach. If you look in the background you can see random tourists sunbathing and looking on. I always find beaches pretty boring, but this group of people showing up would certainly liven the experience up.

Folsom Fair

Once again I missed the premier fetish event in San Francisco. It seems I’m always there just before or just after, but never on the right weekend. I’m heading down next weekend to SF, but unfortunately this year the event already happened a week or so ago. One of these days I’ll get my act together and attend.

I had to laugh at this brief TMZ article on it. Despite the fact that gay men in leather are the majority part of the scene, they still had to describe the images as ‘dominatrix pics’. Apparently if you want to sell a story you have to make it straight, and if you want to make it kinky that means a dominatrix. That’s not to say you can’t see all sorts of gender and kinky combinations at folsom, but the very images TMZ feature under the ‘dominatrix’ title are mostly hunky gay guys.

The Gag Shop

It feels like cheating to simply re-post stories from other blogs that I link to. After all, if you follow my blog roll, you’ll have already seen the original post. I fear the God’s of blogging may punish me with a corrupted database or a particularly efficient and annoying comment spammer. However, this particular story is too good not to re-post.

The story starts with a drawing by Anmo Night entitle ‘The Gag Shop’. The title is pretty self-explanatory for the drawing itself. That in turn inspired Sardax to create a sequence of images based around mistresses visiting the shop. In a cascade of inspiration particles (I blame the Hadron Collider) this in turn spurred a quartet of famous dommes to re-create his images in reality. You can read more on slave pj’s blog and on the blogs of the dommes involved: Madame Catarina, Mistress Akella, Mistress Ezada Sinn and Lady Victoria Valente.

I love the fact that people took the time and energy to put this together. Maybe we could use it to start a trend for re-creating more of Sardax’s work? That’d make for some fun scene negotiations. For my next session I wonder where I can find a glass coffin, a small castle and seven naked dwarfs?
