Here’s another pair of images from a Japanese femdom blog. These are from the kazowk88 blog and were obviously shot a little more recently than the vintage images from a couple of days ago.

I’m not entirely familiar with the equipment, but it looks like some sort of suction pump that’s being used to stretch his nipples in the first shot. Then in the second shot she appears to have placed an elasticator around the stretched nipple, holding it engorged and taut. That may hurt a little when it’s in place, but I’m guessing it’ll be agony when it comes off.

I do like the casually dangling cigarette. It makes me think of a mechanic or workman going about a job, and adds a nice hint of objectification.

Emotional Masochism

HMP over at Her Majesty’s Plaything pointed me at an interesting thread over on Max Fisch’s forum. The initial posting by Miss Darcy was mainly about submissives over-committing and going too far in trying to please. But it then evolved into a discussion about drama, emotional involvement and boundary management with Miss Darcy, Irene Boss and alx. It seems strange, but I realized as I was reading this, that I’d never really thought about emotional masochism. I’d only ever thought about it as a physical concept. This is no doubt because that’s the way I’m wired. Any anger, insults or humiliation in a scene really kills the mood for me. Cruelty and objectification are great, but being insulted quickly pulls me out of submissive mode and into ‘Who the hell do you think you are?’ mode. However, regardless of my personal wiring, in hindsight it seems pretty odd that in years of thinking about femdom I’d never really pondered emotional masochism.

Now I do come to think about, I realize how incredibly difficult it must be to explore, on both side of the D/s equation. When I play the thing I’m trying to ultimately optimize, my emotional state, is not the thing that’s being directly messed with. A great session might be very cathartic and leave me emotionally on a high, but it’s not always necessary to get there. I can just have a good session and end up feeling happy and lightly buzzed. In contrast emotional play seems far more risky and volatile. It could be fantastic if you have a cathartic breakthrough, but terrible if you don’t reach that tipping point. To use a slightly odd but apt analogy, it seems a little like flying from an aircraft carrier. Once you commit to it there’s either going to be a plane in the air or a big expensive splash. There’s no middle ground.

The other thing that struck me was how differently the same activities can be viewed. For example, Miss Darcy talks about cuckolding as an example of emotional masochism. I find cuckolding an intriguing idea, although I’ve not had the chance to experience it. But if I was to do it, I’d always think about it in the context of tease and denial. A case of – “He gets to enjoy the greatest pleasure while you’re frustrated.” I could never do it as – “You’re not enough of a man so I need this guy to satisfy me.” That would just be annoying, and life is already too full of annoying things.

Similarly any forced-bi play would have to be in the context of a hot sexual scene enabling her pleasure. Doing it as a kind of punishment or humiliation would just seem weird to me.

I guess I can be grateful that, through no skill of my own, I got lucky in the nature/nurture dice game that molds our kinks. Physical masochism just leaves me with some odd marks to explain. I don’t have to risk an emotional rollercoaster or a nervous breakdown each time I play.

The conundrum of animated gifs

I’m typically not a fan of animated gifs on my front page. The constant flickering motion is distracting and aesthetically displeasing. They also make the page slow to load and burn big chunks of my bandwidth. However, they can also be kind of fun. They’re ideally suited for endless teasing shots where final satisfaction is never quite achieved.

Vintage Japanese Femdom

I spend some of this weekend ambling around various Japanese femdom blogs. It’s pretty hard for me to understand the text, even with the help of online translation tools, but images are a universal communication medium.

The two shown below are part of a set that I found on homer’s blog. As far as I can tell from his text it was shot in 1963 and the mistress/model was Keiko Otsuka. I think it’s a beautiful set of images. For a posed set of of shots it has quite a naturalistic feel, with just the rope and their semi-naked bodies. There’s no excessive fetish elements or exaggerated posturing. Just some tight bondage and a nice D/s dynamic. The bondage is also strikingly rigorous and efficient compared to the ‘3 lengths of clothesline draped vaguely over a limb’ style that was common in US bondage porn of that era.

Two expressions

Two slices in time capturing two great expressions here. I’m not sure if she’s just teasing him, ruining the orgasm or simply enjoying the moment. Either way, it looks like a lot of fun.

Compare and Contrast

This post was triggered by a comment left by Dishevelled Domina (DD) on yesterday’s post. She wasn’t a fan of the image, either from a fashion or an erotic point of view. That wasn’t a surprising comment to me. I wasn’t a huge fan of it from those points of view either, although I did like heavy leather strop being brandished. I mainly posted it so I can rag on the fashion disasters that so often crop up in this kind of corporal punishment porn.

As way of contrast, DD also provided a pointer to an image she loved and thought was a turn on. I’ve posted it below and I have to agree that it’s a great image. I like her smile. I like his reaction, and the fact he’s properly restrained. They look like a couple having fun. If I could choose an image to show friends what femdom is about, to break the cliches of whips/chains/boots and show how real people play, this’d be a good candidate. If I could only post one of the two images on this blog, I’d pick this one over the previous one everytime.

But…..it doesn’t turn me on. It appeals on an intellectual level, but does nothing to my libido. I’d swap places with the guy in a heartbeat, but as a trigger for my imagination this doesn’t give me much. This is more documentary than fantasy, and if I want real life I can think back to my own scenes with wartenberg wheels.

There’s a lot wrong with the other image. It’s certainly not one I’d pick to get off to. The fashion choices are ugly. I don’t role play, so naught schoolboy fantasies do nothing for me. And the POV shot with the domme staring sternly into the camera has been done to death. Despite all that, there’s something about it that invites fantasy. It gives me a jumping off point that the other image lacks. Which I have to admit is weird, because in reality I’ve no doubt that my only response to a strict school mistress in this getup would be laughter.

There are plenty of ‘good’ cliched images out there. I’ll happily defend the beauty of this image or this image, despite the surfeit of femdom porn stereotypes. But I wonder how images are around that can combine the realism and energy of the shot below, with the kind of libido button pushing that makes submissive males reach for their credit cards?

Kinky fashion throwbacks

Why is it that so much ugly and dated clothing often shows up in connection with the more domestic corporal femdom shots? I know some people complain about too much leather and latex in femdom porn. Personally I’ll take some stylish leatherwear over garments that look like they escaped from a 1970’s Sears catalog. Last week we had a rather distinctive skirt, and in this post features an equally striking blouse. I think she looks great. I like the stare and I like that heavy leather strop she’s sporting. The blouse I could do without.

My personal theory is that a lot of this porn is targeted at middle-aged males who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. Since domestic discipline often has a school or family theme, they’re therefore aiming for a look that men associate with the female authority figures of their childhood. Or of course, they could just be throwing on the cheapest skirts and blouses they can find on ebay.

Good day at the office

I spend most of my day discussing (aka arguing), brainstorming (aka incoherently arguing) and pontificating (aka arguing when you know you’re wrong) about the right way to build really big computing systems. In this kind of group design work submissive tendencies don’t tend to do well, and anyone who knows me only via work will assume I’m a dominant personality type. However, when I’m feeling frazzled and tired after a particularly passionate discussion, I often long to sneak away to get the crap beaten out of me. Pain can be like a holiday from your brain, and sometimes that’s exactly what I need.

It looks like the gentleman below got just that kind of holiday, and with six very attractive tour guides. As it transpires in other photographs, they appear to have had a plumbing problem with the women’s bathroom. This has forced them to rig up some sort of makeshift contraption as an alternative, with him as an integral component. As this second photograph shows it looks a little intimidating, but I’d take it in preference to swearing at powerpoint for an hour.

Site Updates

I’ve been doing a little housekeeping in the links department.

To the blogroll on the right I’ve added a link to Mistress T’s blog and the ‘he stoops to worship’ blog I mentioned in yesterday’s post. I also deleted Cricketed’s blog which sadly hasn’t been updated since March.

To the BDSM articles page I added a link to the Masocast site. If you’ve never visited this site before, it’s a great resource for discovering all sorts of interesting and thought provoking opinions on BDSM and kink culture. You can easily suck up a bunch of time browsing its archive.

Finally, I’ve added four new tumblr sites to the Femdom Images page. These are Get on Your Knees, Lashkisser, AliasSlave and Loves to Lick. I also removed Intelligent Domination, which appears to have been killed.

The image below is of Mistress T, taken from one of her blog posts. I actually hesitated about using this, as it’s not what I suspect most of my readers would think of as a femdom image. But then I thought about the tagline to this blog – “The beauty of dominant women.” Mistress T is undoubtedly a dominant woman. And this picture of her is undoubtedly beautiful. So how could I not use it? Particularly when it makes me feel happy just to look at it!

The joy of referrals

One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about creating this blog is all the interesting sites it has led me to. My original plan was simply to use it to share all the random links and images that I personally appreciated. But thanks to comments, emails and my referral logs, I’ve ended up gaining far more than a simple place to broadcast my opinions.

The latest interesting incoming link that I’ve spotted is from the “he stoops to worship” blog. It’s an unusual femdom blog, in that it contains a much broader selection of artwork than most, drawing from both mainstream and kinky sources. It’s written by slave c and he’s done an excellent job of both selecting the images and providing useful background to them. There’s everything from German pre-war art, through Hollywood Film Noir to erotic illustrations.

The following two images were taken from a post featuring the work of Craig Morey. I think the contrasting bodies together with the sense of balance and symmetry creates something really beautiful.
