This elaborate suspension bondage is by Domina Nia (warning – background music), a New York based pro-domme. She famous, or I guess I should say infamous, for being one of more extreme and sadistic dommes currently working. I’ve no personal experience of her, but I do admire and appreciate the skill required to execute this suspension. And it leaves the submissive in a perfect position for torturing.
This is a surprisingly unusual image. I know that sounds a little tautological, unusual things almost by definition should be surprising, but I’m surprised by the fact that it is actually unusual. Foot and boot worship is a very common femdom theme. The New Boot Black’s Oubliette I referenced in my last post is full of it. And shoe shine stands are a common sight in American department stores, subways, airports, etc. But I can’t think of another example of the two being brought together.
If you look in the mirror you can see the guy in chair 5 turning his head to watch what’s going on. I’m guessing he later turned this into a ‘Only in New York….’ anecdote for his buddies.

This may also sound absurd but each whip holds a personality within them. My morgan is playful but to the point. It’s my all purpose whip and my most comforting one. Secondly, I think it’s a beautiful illustration of the pleasure a top can take in her tools and from a type of play. There’s often a lot of attention payed to the reaction of the submissive: adrenalin, endorphins, marks and bruising, sub-space, etc. But speaking personally, one of a key components of a good scene for me is that the top is also really enjoying themselves. I don’t want to be with someone just going through the motions. A good scene should be highly sensual, a gratification of senses for both the sadist and the masochist. Ideally it should be a shared intimate act. Not simply a fun fair ride for the submissive.
Believe it or not, this post was actually inspired by my previous one on Underling’s artwork. Whilst there might not seem much of a connection between spanking art and intense CBT, his blog is called Underling’s Humblings, and that got me thinking about the other type of humbling frequently seen in a femdom context. As I haven’t posted many humbler pictures to date, this seemed like an opportune time for one.
This is a particularly nasty variation on the standard humbler, as it not only has the cross bar that pulls the testicles back, but also a vice-like component for crushing them. They’re already looking pretty red, and she hasn’t really started tightening the vice yet. Here’s a second shot from another angle that shows it in a little more detail. I have endless respect for successful professional dominants. The list of skills they require is amazing. They need to be technically skilled in all the various facets of BDSM play they offer (piercing, whipping, suspension bondage, medical play, etc.). They need acting ability and imagination to deliver role play scenes. They need a good understanding of psychology to figure out the hot buttons and land mines in their submissive’s head. On a daily basis they have to be able to deal with everyone from nervous novices to experienced leather skinned masochists. Not to mention the weirdo’s and freaks they attract on-line. And on top of all this, they have to run a small company, skirt the vagaries of the law and work in a degree of secrecy. A great domme would seem to be a combination of therapist, actress, nurse, psychologist, performance artist, physical trainer and business entrepreneur.
Of course, sometimes even all this isn’t enough. Sometimes they’re called on for abilities and skills that you just never hear a career guidance counselor mention. I recently added the ‘Sadist Next Door’ to my blog roll. It’s written by Mistress Crimson, a professional dominatrix from Chicago. She has a number of interesting posts, but one that really caught my eye was about food. She quotes Anthony Bourdain on eating as an act of submission.
It is about giving up all vestiges of control, about entrusting fate entirely to someone else. It is about turning off the mean, manipulative, calculating and shrewd person inside of you and slipping heedlessly into a new experience as if it were a warm bath. As both a huge food fan and a submissive I can completely relate to this. Some of the best meals of my life have been when I’ve simply entrusted myself to the chef and let him completely direct the flow of the meal. On the flip side, I also get very frustrated when I’m eating with people who keep trying to grab control from the chef and mess around with elements of the meal. I guess that’s the dining equivalent of topping from the bottom.
Of course as in any D/s relationship, you have to be sure the dominant knows what he or she is doing. A masochist’s delight in suffering doesn’t translate to the food domain quite as well as a submissive tendency does!
